Bicycle city, fine dust pollution and climate agreements – the urgency of creating an alternative to the car-friendly city is clear, but so far we’ve seen few productive approaches. Julia Erdmann has developed a vision for Hamburg to become a pioneer in tackling traffic. She has in mind how a sustainable and healthy urban transport network can be achieved – in just one year, at low investment costs, with the consensus of all involved and to the delight of Hamburg’s citizens. She would like to support her hometown in implementing this. How? By taking a pragmatic look at everyday life, by understanding different needs, by fresh lateral thinking and above all by dealing creatively with existing urban space. A complex problem with a simple solution. JES!
